PC Inspector File Recovery Review
PC Inspector File Recovery – very simple, but totally free tool for recovering data from hard and floppy disks. Effectiveness of the program is average – on the one hand, there were claimed great opportunities to restore lost files, support for all file systems of the Windows; on the other – the practices show that something it recovers, but something can not see the even “in focus” . Given the fact that the developers also offer paid services to restore lost information, it seems that the possibilities of the free PC Inspector File Recovery deliberately flawed – or who then there will need paid services? (May be you want to see Top 9 Hdd Problems?)
There are three major options to search and recover lost data in PC Inspector File Recovery. When the program starts it is immediately asked to choose one of the ways for further work:
Recover deleted files – restoration of deleted files in a standard way of the OS, bypassing the recycle bin of Windows, of course; Find lost data – restoration of lost data from the damaged file system or drive formatting – one of the most popular tools; Find lost drive – Search for logical drives that are invisible to the OS and restore them. The last option may be used if the logical drive that contains the information is deleted and is missing from the partition table and is not visible for the OS – the truth is that this tool shows very low efficiency (May be you want to see the Prices of Data Recovery?).
When one of the ways of restoration is chosen program scans your system and then offers the window where you should choose a logical drive that contains the information to restore. And if you select Find lost data or Find lost drive in the window tab “Logical drive” will be two lists of logical drives, duplicating each other (Fig. 2). That can sometimes confuse the user. The first a list of logical drives for each physical disk «on fixed disk …» comes, and then there is a list of logical drives, lettered – as they were seeing in Windows. In general, the first and the second lists often repeat each other, especially if the system has the only one drive. If you have more than one HDD, then the order for individual drives will be different – depending on how, say, the sections were selected for active partition of hard disk drives. If the hard disk has lost logical drives, then they can only appear in the list given to the physical device («on fixed disk …»). Information on the amount of detected hard disks and partitions can be seen in tab Physical drive. If the way of recovering hard drive data has been set and a list of logical drives is in front of you, then the further user’s actions are choosing of the disc from one of the lists, which should contain information. After double-click it will start scanning the selected logical drive. Time is determined by disk size and capacity of your computer. Usually the process takes 10 to 30 minutes. After the scan is complete open the corresponding window of PC Inspector File Recovery, which displays available data for recovery. If the mode “Recover deleted files” was used, then the found data will be in the Deleted folder in a window of PC Inspector File Recovery. When modes “Find lost data” or “Find lost drive” are chosen, then restored data will appear in folders or Lost Root, respectively. Usually the names of directories of the root of the restored disk are not recovered and they are replaced by something like “cluster …” (Fig. 3), and the names of the subdirectories and files tend to retain their original names. To restore the file and directories it is rather to click the right mouse button on a name in the right window of PC Inspector File Recovery and then, after you click “Save to”, the shortcut menu specifies the location of the recovered object (Fig. 4). There is no guarantee that after going through the all the stages and even recovered the file to disk, it will then open correctly or work. Also you need to know, that often when searching and retrieving information from the root folder of Root, Deleted, Lost there could appear non-existing files with names like “cluster …” with surreal sizes, extensions and dates of creation.
